Viagra

"A well-known, branded erectile dysfunction (ED) treatment for men, often referred to as the ‘blue pill’. It contains the active ingredient sildenafil."

What is Viagra?

Viagra for men is a well-known erectile dysfunction (ED) treatment. It increases blood flow to the penis to help you get and maintain an erection. The effects of the distinctive blue Viagra pills can last for up to five hours.

We can prescribe Viagra online after a quick and confidential consultation to make sure it’s right for you.

How does it work?

Viagra's active ingredient is sildenafil citrate. It increases blood flow to the penis, to help give you a firmer, longer-lasting erection when you’re sexually aroused. The effects can last for up to five hours.

Like all erectile dysfunction treatments, Viagra won’t resolve any underlying physical cause of your ED or increase the intensity of sexual desire.

While Viagra tablets can help you get an erection, they won’t treat premature ejaculation (PE) if you’re experiencing this too. Find out more about dedicated treatments for PE.

How to use Viagra

Take one tablet an hour before having sex. Viagra works best on an empty stomach or after a light meal. You might find it takes longer to work after eating something heavier like fried food. Avoid drinking alcohol with Viagra too, as this will limit its effectiveness.

Don’t combine Viagra with other ED medicines, including faster-acting ones like Spedra.

Treatment results

When taken as advised, and you’re sexually aroused, Viagra is effective for 74% of men.

Before you consider a higher dose or look at other options, we recommend you try an ED treatment on at least eight separate occasions.

Some men who take Viagra regularly might find that over time it becomes less effective. But there are plenty of alternatives.

Please contact us in your Patient Record so we can discuss your other ED treatment options.

  • Viagra dosages

The standard Viagra dose is 50mg. A lower (25mg) or higher dose (100mg) may suit you better, depending on your age, height, weight, and the cause or severity of your ED. The dosage doesn’t affect how quickly the treatment works or how long it lasts.

In clinical trials, 62% of men reported firmer and longer-lasting erections when they took 25mg. That increased to 74% for men who took 50mg. And 82% of men who took the highest dose of 100mg said Viagra had the desired effect.

Taking a higher dose can increase your chance of experiencing side effects. One of our online doctors can recommend a safe and effective dose for you to take.
