STI treatments
How to get treatment
If you’ve already been diagnosed with an STI, we can safely treat you without a face-to-face appointment. Thanks to doctor-patient confidentiality, your GP doesn’t need to know you’ve requested treatments from us unless you ask us to tell them.
You shouldn’t have sex until you’ve treated your STI. And remember to always complete your full course of medication to make sure you’ve treated an infection or outbreak effectively.
STI testing at home
Doctors recommend you get tested every time you have unprotected sex with a new sexual partner or are worried you have been exposed to a sexually transmitted infection.
You can order home testing kits that cover a range of STIs, including chlamydia, gonorrhoea, and HIV. If you have STI symptoms, you should talk to your GP or visit a sexual health clinic.
Preventing STIs
Good sexual health begins with safe sex. When you’re having sex, the most effective way to avoid catching an STI is to use condoms for oral, vaginal and anal sex.
Be on the lookout for anything unusual from you or your partner, like smells, growths or discharges. Don’t be afraid to say no if you think either of you may have symptoms of a sexually transmitted disease.
As some STIs can’t be cured, staying safe in the moment could be important for your health in the long term.
