PE treatments
What is premature ejaculation (PE)?
Premature ejaculation (PE) is when men ejaculate, or ‘come’ earlier than they'd like during sex. This is normally seen as less than 60 seconds after penetration.
What causes premature ejaculation?
PE affects most men at some point in their lives. And there are a few things that might cause it, including:
- Relationship issues
- Depression
- Stress
- Being anxious to perform well
What are the symptoms?
You and your partner are ultimately the judges of what counts as premature ejaculation. From a medical point of view, it would be seen as under 60 seconds after penetration.
If you climax quickly during sex, and you and your partner are satisfied with this, there’s no problem. You obviously don’t need to seek medical treatment.
PE is most common in younger men, and men who have had fewer sexual experiences.
PE treatments
If you think you have an ongoing issue with ejaculation, you can speak to your GP. They may prescribe tablets or cream, or refer you to a specialist for alternative treatment like counselling.
Our clinicians can assess your own personal situation with a confidential online consultation. Then, if we think it’s right for you, we can prescribe Priligy, EMLA or a combination pack of these two treatments.
Prescription PE treatments work by delaying your body’s impulse to reach orgasm. As with all medications, these treatments may not be right for you and may cause unwanted side effects. Which is why it’s important to talk to a medical professional.
Premature ejaculation tablets
A prescribed PE tablet like Priligy can block the signals from your brain during sex, to delay ejaculation.
Premature ejaculation creams
You might be prescribed an anaesthetic cream like EMLA. This numbs the penis to make it less sensitive, and so helps delay ejaculation.
Some men who think they’re experiencing premature ejaculation have erectile dysfunction (ED). And it’s common to have a combination of both PE and ED. We can help to work out the issue, and the best combination of treatments, with an online consultation.
