Cialis tablets
"A reliable, branded treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED). It can be taken without food and the side effects are usually mild."
What is Cialis?
Cialis is an erectile dysfunction treatment that contains tadalafil. It works inside 30 minutes and the effects last for up to 36 hours. Cialis is effective for 8 out of 10 men experiencing ED.
How does it work?
The active ingredient in Cialis is tadalafil, which increases blood flow to the penis. When you’re sexually stimulated, Cialis can help you get a firmer, longer-lasting erection by helping the blood vessels in your penis to relax.
How to use Cialis
For Cialis to be effective, take one tablet at least 30 minutes before having sex. Swallow the pill whole with water. There’s no need to take it with food.
The effects of Cialis can last for up to 36 hours. Not the erection itself, but your ability to get one. Never take more than one Cialis tablet within 36 hours.
Don’t combine Cialis pills with other ED medications and avoid drinking too much, as alcohol limits its effectiveness.
Treatment results
Studies show that Cialis is over 80% effective in helping men to get satisfactory erections.
Remember that treatments like Cialis won’t resolve underlying physical causes of erectile dysfunction or increase your levels of sexual desire.

Cialis tablets FAQs
-
How long does Cialis take to work?
You should take your Cialis tablet at least 30 minutes before having sex.
-
What can make Cialis less effective?
Cialis treats ED for 80% of men when taken at least 30 minutes before having sex. You may find Cialis is less effective if you’ve drunk more than 1-2 units of alcohol (around a pint of low strength beer or a double gin and tonic). Drink too much and it can also increase your chances of side effects like dizziness or headaches.
Food won’t affect how Cialis works but you should avoid grapefruit juice for 24 hours while taking it.
-
How often should I take Cialis?
The effects of Cialis last 36 hours. You shouldn’t take more than one tablet of Cialis a day.
-
Cialis dosages
Cialis comes in 10mg and 20mg tablets, 10mg being the standard recommended dose. Our doctors can advise you on the right initial dosage for you, which can be reviewed later.
Before you consider a higher dose or look at other options, we recommend you try an ED treatment on at least eight separate occasions.
-
Where can I buy Cialis?
We can prescribe Cialis after a confidential online consultation, where you answer some questions about your health. Our clinicians will make sure it’s safe for you to take the treatment.
-
What to do if I get Cialis side effects
If you’re getting side effects from Cialis, they’ll usually go away when you stop taking the tablets. Please message us in your Patient Record or talk to a doctor or pharmacist if any side effects continue and it’s worrying you.
-
Cialis warnings
You should talk to your doctor before taking Cialis if you have:
- Sickle cell anaemia (abnormal red blood cells)
- Multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer)
- Leukaemia (cancer of the blood cells)
- Any deformation of your penis
- A serious liver problem
- A severe kidney problem
-
Cialis drug interactions
As with other ED treatments, it’s not safe to take Cialis if you’re already taking certain other medications. These include:
- Alpha-blockers, like doxazosin or tamsulosin
- Nicorandil or nitrates, such as GTN spray
- Isosorbide mononitrate tablets, which are used to treat angina
As with all medications, Cialis can interact with other medicines which could be dangerous. So that we can prescribe it safely, you’ll need to let us know which prescription and over-the-counter medicines or recreational drugs you’re taking regularly.
-
Alternative Cialis treatments
There are a range of approaches to treating ED. For instance, making certain lifestyle changes or identifying psychological causes through counselling.
If Cialis doesn’t work for you, please contact us in your Patient Record so we can discuss your other options.

Alternative Cialis medication
You can also take medications like Viagra to treat ED.
Cialis vs Viagra
While both these medications increase blood flow to the penis to help give you firmer erections, their active ingredients are different. Cialis contains tadalafil but in Viagra it’s sildenafil.
You may find you have a stronger response when taking one of these treatments over the other.
