What is a contraceptive pill?
Contraceptive pills are widely used in the UK and come in two forms, all of which work to stop you getting pregnant. There’s the combined pill which includes the low-dose combined pill, and the progestogen-only ‘mini pill’.

There are some rare but serious side effects of contraception. If you experience

- Pain or swelling in the calf of the legs
- Numbness or weakness down one side of the body
