Telfast
"Effective for symptoms of pollen from grass, trees and flowers. Active ingredient is fexofenadine. Helps prevent itchy, watering eyes, runny nose, sneezing, and coughing."
What is Telfast?
Telfast is an oral antihistamine tablet you take once a day to help prevent and relieve the symptoms of hay fever.
Hay fever is a common pollen allergy that can cause itching, sneezing and a runny nose.
How does it work?
Histamine is a chemical produced by your body when it has an allergic reaction. In the case of hay fever, the allergen is pollen. Telfast contains the antihistamine fexofenadine, which stops histamine from reacting within your body to cause the symptoms of hay fever.
How to use Telfast
You should take one tablet a day for as long as you’re experiencing the symptoms of hay fever.
Treatment results
Telfast is highly effective in treating the symptoms of hay fever. It can also be used with other medicines.
Telfast can treat your hay fever symptoms but not the underlying cause, which is an allergy.
Side effects of Telfast
As with all medications, when taking Telfast there is a small chance you may experience side effects. These include headaches, a rash and feeling drowsy, dizzy or sick (nausea).
For full details of correct use and the possible side effects, see the Telfast patient information leaflet. If you’re worried about side effects, contact us in your Patient Record.
